What we did

The Brief

Wasa is a global crispbread and snacking company that were looking for a video production partner to aid in creating social media content for their various brands. Having seen the work that we do with their parent company, Barilla, they reached out to Menace Media to assist in their social media content creation.

They needed a production team capable of producing a constant flow of video and photo content monthly tailored to maximise engagement and showcase their variety of products. Wasa’s in-house team of marketing specialists regularly monitor the insights and trends on social media to best inform our briefs and ensure that the content that we’re creating remains relevant.

The aim was to conduct highly efficient film shoots, often with the goal of producing four or more pieces of content within a single day of shooting.

The Shoots

The shoots with Wasa take place in their London studio, focusing primarily on video recipes and photo’s of the finished dishes. We work from a detailed brief that specifies shot types and lighting references.

The shoots require a substantial crew comprising videographers, a producer, prop stylist, food stylist, chefs, and assistants. This extensive team contributes to the efficiency of the shoots without compromising the quality of the videos or the food.

Keeping the content engaging is critical so to assist with this we employ diverse lighting techniques to accentuate the dishes based on the recipe origins/themes. Often this means using lighting effects to simulate different times of day. As well as this we shoot various shots and angles to keep the videos fresh and include slow motion, macro, and top-down perspectives

The Edits

The Editing plays a key role in the content that we create for Wasa.

Engagement is absolutely everything with social media videos. We use the data and insights that their in-house marketing team provide to guide us with the edit structure and pacing. We also make sure to keep the music upbeat and on-brand. This way we achieve a look and feel that remains recognisable, whilst being properly optimised for social media platforms.

A huge part of the editing with Wasa comes down to sound design. With the nature of the product having a distinct ‘crunch’ sound, we record audio at absolutely every step of the process. This then enhances the edits and brings a layer of depth that makes the videos delicious.

The Results

Over the years, we have produced over one hundred videos for Wasa and we couldn’t be happier with the results. The videos have seen millions of views growing both the companies online presence and of course, sales.
