The Race to World First
What we did
The Brief
Method, a guild in World of Warcraft, are up against the best guilds in the world to defend their title as the world first. With a new raid, and bosses, it was time for the race to begin. Red Bull partnered with Method for this event, to host the entire competition from the Red Bull Gaming Sphere in London. This required a video production team to work day and night, for multiple weeks to constantly create content to promote the event and keep the audience updated.
The Shoots
The project demanded an around-the-clock operation, complete with teams working both day and night to ensure a steady stream of interviews and supplementary footage featuring our gamers. Our teams were always ready to capture significant moments, in addition to utilising livestream camera feeds.
At the outset, we designated multiple days for media coverage to create promotional materials for the event. Our efforts produced a hype trailer, player profile videos, team promotions, and more. During the event, the focus shifted to regularly distributing content updates and highlights.
A team of six videographers and editors worked relentlessly over a two-week period to bring this ambitious project to fruition.
The Edits
Speed was the most important thing on this project. The faster we could turn around edits the better. With the sheer amount of content required to go out across Redbull, Method and the gamers channels, we had to move quickly to produce a massive amount of content in a short time. Moreover, we strived to uphold a consistent quality standard and meet the technical requirements for live streaming.
Having a swift approvals process was key to our success. We were lucky enough to have an on-site editing suite that we based ourselves in. This meant we were able to involve the client directly within the editing process and make amends to videos quickly and efficiently.
The Results
Not only did Method win the race! In parallel, we successfully produced numerous videos daily for over two weeks. This event had millions of views, and our content played a significant role in its promotion. We had a great time working on this project, and were incredibly happy with the footage, and edits produced.
