PC Specialist

Event and Product Content

What we did

The Brief

We first started working with PCSpecialist back in the early days, when it was just Dennis! We originally started due to a need for event highlight content. PCSpecialist were exhibiting at a variety of events, but in particular they had an impressive booth at Insomnia Gaming Festival, and EGX. From this they wanted to document and create highlight content showcasing their presence at these events. To continue beyond this, PCSpecialist required Menace to create videos of their extensive Laptop range to be featured on their website.

The Shoots

Our event shoots with PCSpecialist consisted of a solo videographer, with a simple setup consisting of 2 cameras, one on a gimbal and another handheld to gather a variety of shots for our edits. We’d capture the events over the 3-4 day period to ensure that we have enough variety within the crowd to truly show the volume of attendees within these events.

On the Laptop video side, we initially started back in 2017 with a concept shoot. PCSpecialist sent us a handful of laptops so that we could experiment with different backgrounds and surfaces to build the initial concept. Once this was complete we were off! We filmed between 20-30 Laptop videos every year, and changed the concept every two years. This has continued year on year and we’re still filming these today. We complete these projects entirely in-house from within our on-site studio. The shoots were split into two concepts, based on their office laptop range, and their gaming laptop range. Each had their own distinct look and feel.

The Edits

With the event videos, as these were predominantly created for social media, it was essential that the edits were fast paced and engaging. So we used a lot of footage, coupled with speed ramps, transitions and other editing techniques to emphasise the music and flow. We ensured to include a balance of all of the features included in their booth, from the computers, to the simulator rigs.

The laptop video edits are always slower in nature, this is because they’re not for social media consumption and instead are featured on their website product pages. The idea is to showcase the laptops visually in a slow and detailed way to give their customers a detailed look into the product that they may purchase. We developed an edit that would be uniform across their entire laptop range. This was divided into two categories; office laptops and gaming laptops. Each with their individual cutting pace, and music.

The Results

Our collaboration has garnered thousands of views online for their event presence, further growing their online community. As well as this our videos produced for their laptop range have assisted in sales growth and bolstered PCSpecialists offering further.
